ARTIST WRITER RETREATS
RELAXATION, FREEDOM, & ILLUMINATION
IMPROVING THE CREATIVE CALL WITHIN

ARTISTS' WRITER RETREATS, CONFERENCES, & WORKSHOPS

Artist Writer Retreats remove the walls that deprive the creative person of the soul’s creative powers. Without this, their daily thoughts and routines can weaken their creative powers and their creative works can suffer as a result. Retreats restore their creative powers.

Artist writer retreats are places for fulfilling creative and authentic experiences. Artists, writers, and all creative people need to indulge themselves to spend time away from their work, neighborhood, and daily routines. They need room to “see” and “breath”. They need to reignite their creative powers with a retreat, tour, or workshop. _________________________________________________________________

Airbrush Art Training

Contributor By Cynthia Clark, eHow Contributing Writer

I want to do this! Close on details of an airbrushed painting. It was Will McEntee who first demonstrated the airbrush as an artist's tool during a fall banquet for Philadelphia's Clover Club in 1884. According to Kishwaukee College website, he had painted a portrait of Mark Twain in less than five minutes to the amazement of guests. Today, artists continue to seek airbrush art training as it provides stunning results on canvas, wood, metal, cakes and the human body.

1. Community College

Art schools and the art department of the local community college offer courses in airbrush art. Courses start with the basics, then additional classes are offered according to specific industries such as textiles or automotive. The schools often require the student to purchase the basic tools but provide in-class air compressors. Airbrushing must be learned hands-on, not simply by reading or viewing course materials.

2. Airbrush Getaways

For the individual not wanting to participate in a college course, there are a number of opportunities to learn airbrushing. Airbrush Action Magazine has sponsored several Airbrush Getaway events at various locations each year for more than 20 years. Each Airbrush Getaway is a hands-on event for beginners or professionals. The 2010 event line-up includes an introduction to airbrushing and a workshop for creating photo-realistic artwork. Other events focus on tattoo artwork, automotive pinstripes, lettering and detailed graphics.

3. International Workshops

Award winning airbrush artist Wayne Harrison of AdvancedAirbrush teaches multiple airbrush art training courses in Australia, Thailand, Malaysia and other international locations. Beginner courses are scheduled along side a variety of workshops for the advanced airbrush artist including automotive graphics.

4. DVD Instructional Training

For the self-paced learner, instructional DVDs provide lessons for techniques to advance airbrushing skills. An introductory course to airbrushing and training in automotive graphics by Wayne Harrison are available in DVD format through AdvancedAirbrush.

5. Online Tutorials

For the self-paced learner, online tutorials are a great way to advance your skills. Websites catering to the airbrushing industry provide information for airbrush art training. When searching for tutorials to create a specific type of art for textile, automotive or other graphic specialty, take time to view lessons featuring a different specialty. Airbrushing techniques are basically the same with only a few differences regarding the canvas medium.

A wide number of online tutorials are available including: HowToCustomPaint, which caters to beginners and those with advanced skills. AirbrushingWorld has a few video tutorials for advanced techniques by leading airbrush artists. Airbrush Technique Magazine maintains a database of instructional articles and and how-to videos, but does require a paid subscription for access.

Contributor By Isabel Prontes, eHow Contributing Writer

I want to do this! There are various art courses offered throughout Saskatchewan and Alberta.

Saskatchewan and Alberta and both prairie provinces located in Canada. The prairie provinces, which also include Manitoba, are in Western Canada, and their name comes from the fact that much of the land is covered by prairies, which are a variety of grassland. Romantic Adult Getaways in California

Contributor By TravisB, eHow Contributing Writer

The state of California is unique due to its size, which allows for multiple types of climate and terrain. This diversity allows Californians the luxury of a getaway in a very different landscape without being far from their homes. There are numerous locations within the state, each with a different type of climate and landscape. From the quiet of the wine country in Napa to the rugged trails in Big Sur, there are numerous options for those wishing to get away for a quiet romantic weekend. If you want something a little more exciting, there is always the city of San Francisco, filled with diverse neighborhoods. For those living in California, that romantic getaway is just around the corner.

Big Sur

1. Big Sur is located on the coast of California between San Francisco and Los Angeles. Long known as a quiet retreat, it has become a destination for people wishing to get away from it all. Famed writers Jack Kerouac and Hunter S. Thompson both sought refuge in the gorgeous wilderness of Big Sur. The population in all of Big Sur barely reaches 1,000. There are no real townships in the area, only small groupings of restaurants and gas stations, making it an excellent location for couples looking for a romantic weekend away from civilization. For those interested in camping or hiking through one of the most beautiful coastal areas in the world, Big Sur is the destination for you.

Carmel

2. Carmel or Carmel-by-the-Sea is a small beach community located in Monterey County. Known as an artist community, this tiny hamlet contains some of the most beautiful beaches and scenery in California. The town contains several small hotels and restaurants and is perfect for a romantic getaway that is far away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Be sure to take a drive on the 17-Mile Drive located in nearby Pebble Beach for some of the most breathtaking views and beaches in the state.

Napa

3. For those interested in wine tasting and small bed and breakfast motels, the Napa Valley is the destination for you. Considered one of the best viticulture areas in America, the Napa Valley has a rustic feel that seems quite distant from the constant go of San Francisco. It feels a bit like France or Italy, with wines that rival both of those regions in international recognition.

San Francisco

4. While a large city may seem odd for a getaway, San Francisco offers numerous opportunities for a romantic retreat. From its many upscale hotels to the beautiful views along the bay, there is a little something for everyone. The various neighborhoods throughout the city allow for a bit of variety in what you may be looking for whether it be the Italian restaurants of North Beach or excellent Mexican food in the Mission District. Or for those looking for a more intimate stay away from the larger hotels, there are numerous boutiques and smaller hotels that carry with them the charm of the city. Throughout the city there are numerous parks and museums with Golden Gate Park and the Palace of Fine Arts as two of the high points. The city is small (the city of San Francisco is contained in a 5-mile radius), so walking to your destination is easy. Or for those who wish to go to their next stop a little faster, the famed trolley system can take you where you need to go throughout the city.
